The Girl Guides movement

What We've Been Up To

We also held our Sponsored Event one week which was a hoot! We all sat for 35 minutes with our feet in cold tomato spaghetti. It was revoltingly cold and felt like you were squashing lots of worms. It was all done for a good cause though in sponsoring a little girl called Wagini from Sri Lanka who is 8.

The following week we learnt about our Penpals in Ohio and chatted about what we could send them in our parcel. Brownies were going to write their letters at home and bring them in next week.

At our first Brownie meeting this term we were lucky enough to have two ladies from the Trefoil Guild come in to talk to us about Brownies in their day fifty years ago.

They brought their old badges, neckerchiefs, books plus the old currency from that time. One of them also brought a diary that her mother had kept of the year that she'd started in Brownies. It was a very interesting chat and at the end we gave the ladies a small yellow rose to thank them for coming to our meeting. We also played a game about what Brownies had to keep in their pockets which amazed some of the girls. This all went towards the Brownie Traditions badge which the following week most of the girls finished by learning about the Union Jack Flag and then colouring one in.
